ScreenOnAutoJoin the Beta Test
Install ScreenOnAuto through the Google Play beta-tester list — required on Android 14 and above.
ℹ️ Note This installs the full, official ScreenOnAuto app. Google’s beta-tester list is simply how it’s delivered for installation (and what lets it work correctly with Android Auto) — it is not a separate trial or unfinished version.
Before You Start
- The form asks you to sign in to Google and records your signed-in account automatically — there’s nothing to type. So make sure you sign in with the same Google account that is signed in to your phone’s Play Store; the app won’t be visible to any other account.
- Add screenonauto@lzn.idv.tw to your contacts before signing up, so the confirmation email isn’t filtered out.
How to Join

Open the Join form, sign in if asked, tick the checkbox that records your email, and submit:
- You’ll receive a confirmation email with an opt-in link. Open it and tap Become a tester.
- Open the Play Store link from the same email and install ScreenOnAuto as usual.
- After installing, open Android Auto → Customize Launcher and confirm you see the two ScreenOnAuto entries (full-screen and Legacy). A third entry, Media Controller, appears only on older Android Auto versions — on newer ones it is absent by design, and that is fine. After You Sign Up
❗ Important
- If a slot is free: the tester list syncs to Google Play in an hourly batch at the top of the hour, and the confirmation email with your opt-in link (from screenonauto@lzn.idv.tw) goes out right after — it normally arrives within an hour.
- If the list is full: you’ll get a waitlist email right away; when a slot frees up you’re added automatically and the confirmation email follows.
- Slots are limited and rotate: when others are waiting, the slots held longest (more than about a day — counted from when you got the slot, not whether you’ve installed) rotate to the next in line. So install soon after you’re added.
- No email? Check Spam and Promotions and mark it “Not spam”. After you opt in, the app can take a few minutes to appear on the Play Store for your account.
Leaving the Test
To free your slot for someone else, open the Leave form signed in with the account you want to remove and submit:
Notes
- On Android 13 and below, joining the beta is optional — you can sideload the APK instead (see the installation guide).
- A Play-installed build and a sideloaded APK use different signing certificates, so they cannot update each other on the same device. To switch channels, uninstall the existing one first.
